Background of SVC
Student Volunteer Corps (SVC) is a one-stop centre for youths interested in volunteering and who are looking for ideas and avenues for Community Involvement Programmes. SVC is also an Associate Member of the National Council of Social Service (NCSS).

SVC has been promoting student volunteerism in the social service sector since 1989 while it was under the auspices of the National Council of Social Service (NCSS).

Strategic Focus
SVC has three key focuses, namely:

  • Offer meaningful and interesting alternatives for students participating in the Community Involvement Programme (CIP) or other community service programmes.
  • Structure enrichment programmes to enhance students’ learning experience in volunteering and encourage their continued commitment to serve the community.
  • Promote a volunteer developmental path for students.
Target Audience
We serve all youths from age 13 – 25 years old.

However, in serving their needs, we may also reach out to other youths e.g. primary school students and university post-graduates.

Roles / Activities
It will be working with schools and other partners to offer meaningful and interesting programmes and activities for students participating in the Community Involvement Programme (CIP) and other community service programmes.

With its emphasis on “students for students”, SVC seeks to develop the youth by enhancing their learning experience in volunteering and encouraging their continued commitment to serve the community, through camps, workshops, seminars, networking forums and exchange programmes.

In the next 3 years, SVC is partnering the Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC) to promote disability sports volunteerism amongst students and to bring disability sports to new heights.
